Job Description The Category Manager position is a sales-oriented position utilizing sales, retail insights and category solutions necessary to grow our retailers’ beer category as well as expanding Central States Beverage Company’s portfolio via the space and assortment available in our retail accounts.

We are seeking a self-motivated, organized and results driven individual to represent Central States Beverage Company and our portfolio of brands in a professional manner.  This position will combine category selling as well as office work needed to identify, develop, and sell in cooler set projects in our off premise, retail accounts in Missouri and Kansas.

This position looks at account opportunities by leveraging multiple data sources and shopper insights along with a deep understanding of the total beverage alcohol category as well as the current retail environment. The Category Manager’s role requires excellent communication skills that will be used with our retail customers and the Central States sales team. Utilizing JDA Space Planning software, this person will create, sell in, and implement individual account cooler set projects as well as chain account projects from start to finish.

For Quality Assurance purposes, this person will conduct 20 to 25 Quality audits per month across both Missouri and Kansas.  Audits will be completed and turned in to the Vice President of Chain Sales at the beginning of each month for the previous month’s audits and then submitted to the Vice President/General Manager for review.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Strong MS Office skills specifically with Excel, Word, and Power Point.  (JDA Space Planning skill training will be provided after hire)

The Distilled Spirits Specialist will be a direct report to the Distilled Spirits / Non-Alch Brand Manager. This role will be responsible for the execution of supplier goals and programming in both the On and Off Premises for both Kansas and Missouri territories. The expectations for this role will be a retail facing position with very limited office time. Off Premise work will be spent in the AM, and the rest of the day will be spent in the On Premise.

Job Responsibilities may include but limited to the following:

On Premise:

  • Will call on provided account lists, both buying and nonbuying, based on assigned call frequency in order to ensure that our spirits brands are being represented according to current Supplier Brand Standards. Ex: bottles represented on back bar properly, Features Signs are utilized where possible, and inventory levels are adequate.
  • Prospecting of new Accounts for the CSBC Spirits Brands through working with CSBC Management, Sales Reps, and Suppliers. Present and sample brands to prospected accounts when applicable and where legal according to state law.

  • Maintain knowledge of current spirits and cocktail trends in order to utilize CSBC products to max potential.

Off Premise

Draft Technicians service all draft accounts and perform scheduled maintenance to include cleaning of beer lines, inspection and cleaning of draft equipment.

Objective:

Work environment:
Office work will be required. There will be occasions that lifting of product and merchandising materials will become necessary to a maximum lift of 175 lbs. Work duties:

  1. Reports directly to the On Premise Sales Manager.
  2. Carry all needed sales materials that are directed by company goals and objectives. (i.e., sales pricing information, point of sale)

Additionally, this position will serve as the assistant, when necessary, on Inventory management with our Inventory Manager.

Special Event Management

  • This individual will need to collaborate with multiple internal and external partners to plan and execute of all events throughout the year
  • They must be able to lead a team to successfully deliver results and growth through events and sponsorships within our distribution area.
  • Manages all event teams to ensure smooth execution of prior, during and post recap of special events and sponsorship activities.
  • Act as the company’s liaison between event promoters and sponsors, alcoholic license holder and potential co-sponsors from like-minded companies

Supply Chain/Sales Administrator

Job Objective:

To assist the Director of Inventory Management to assure that all supplier products are made available for sale to retail to include, forecasting, ordering of product and monitoring the shipment of ordered products, maintaining proper inventory days of sale by brand and by package to meet the standards set by each supplier.  To assist the Sales Department in tracking of incentives, creating sales materials, and helping with aspects of product setup.

Work Environment:

This position will be done in an office environment.  There will be occasions with this position to check physical inventory in the warehouse, lifting case products of 24 lbs as needed to check code dates/expiration dates. There is a tremendous amount of computer work and must have the ability and skill to handle Excel and other supplier related programs.

Work Duties:

  1. This position reports directly to the Director of Inventory Management
  2. Is responsible for being the backup to the Director of Inventory Management and to know how to handle his/her day to day duties.
  3. Is responsible for assisting in the handling of the forecasting, ordering and tracking of product from assigned suppliers. These suppliers will be assigned by the Director of Inventory Management.

  5. Is responsible for assisting with the entering of all purchase orders for any supplier order that cannot be downloaded.
  6. Is responsible for assisting in providing inventory and sales status/depletion reports for each supplier on a weekly and or monthly basis depending on the standards set by our suppliers.
  7. Is responsible for assisting in providing all information by registered suppliers to the VIP network.
  8. Is responsible for completing the monthly VIP audit.
  9. Is responsible in assisting in the transferring of products of our suppliers from different states as needed to maintain product availability.
  10. Is responsible for assisting in the handling of sub-distributors orders and billings as they come available.
  11. Is responsible for assisting in the handling of the invoicing of suppliers for beer samples, donations and incentives.
  12. Is responsible for assisting in providing and updating the daily “Out of Stock Report”, “Product Updates Report,” and “Cut Report” to the General Manager and the Sales Department.
  13. Is responsible for providing all daily reporting to VIP and Red Bull.
  14. Is responsible for completing sales and inventory reports requested by management, CSBC sales representatives and suppliers.
  15. Is responsible for being the backup for all hot shot tickets.
  16. Is responsible for working with the Operations Department regarding any shipment discrepancies, product changes, product transfers, distributor orders and any other questions or concerns with the product that is in our warehouse.
  17. Is responsible for updating the Frontline pricing (MO & KS) with new & current product information.
  18. Is responsible to participate in all Monthly Business Objectives monthly meetings with the Sales Department to assure of proper product ordering and any new product introductions.
  19. Is responsible for entering MVG’s each month.
  20. Is responsible for tracking and sending out MVG’s and MBO’s to the sales team weekly and wrapping up at month end. This includes the tracking of display photos, etc.
  21. Is responsible for creating new product sheets that include product description, product number and UPC numbers.
  22. Is responsible for checking state registration websites for product registration approvals.
  23. Is responsible for creating new brand family/brands, entering ABV, State approval codes, UPC codes and SRS item numbers in Eostar.
  24. Is repsponsible for setting up retail samplings to include communication with both suppliers and CSBC sales representatives through Outlook calendar invites.
  25. Is responsible for ordering all business cards.
  26. Is responsible for keeping the employee shirt size document up to date.
  27. Is responsible to maintain a professional demeanor in working with all of our beverage suppliers.
